Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is blaming Russia’s invasion of Ukraine partially on President Joe Biden.
During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Monday, the governor was asked by co-host Brian Kilmeade what he thought of the president’s visit to Ukraine.
“I’m reminded of when he was vice president, Obama and Biden opposed providing lethal aid to Ukraine during those years,” DeSantis responded.
He continued, “Then, I’m also reminded that I don’t think any of this would have happened but for the weakness that the president showed during his first year in office — culminating of course in the disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan.”
He went on:
“I think while he’s over there, I think I and many Americans are thinking to ourselves, ok, he’s very concerned about those borders halfway around the world. He’s not done anything to secure our own border here at home. We’ve had millions and millions of people pour in. Tens of thousands of Americans dead because of fentanyl. And then, of course, we just suffered a national humiliation of having China fly a spy balloon clear across the continental United States.”
Finally, DeSantis said, “We have a lot of problems accumulating here in our own country that he is neglecting.”

His comments come after it was revealed Biden made a previously unannounced visit to Ukraine ahead of the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion, as IJR reported.
“One year ago, the world was literally at the time bracing for the fall of Kyiv. Seems like a lot longer ago than a year,” the president said during remarks on Monday. “One year later, Kyiv stands. And Ukraine stands. Democracy stands. America stands with you, and the world stands with you.”
In a statement, Biden said of his secretive visit, “As the world prepares to mark the one-year anniversary of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, I am in Kyiv today to meet with President Zelenskyy and reaffirm our unwavering and unflagging commitment to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”
Not everyone was thrilled about the trip.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tweeted, “This is incredibly insulting. Today on our President’s Day, Joe Biden, the President of the United States chose Ukraine over America, while forcing the American people to pay for Ukraine’s government and war. I can not express how much Americans hate Joe Biden.”

In a separate tweet, she wrote, “Biden didn’t go to East Palestine, Ohio on President’s Day. He went to Ukraine, a NON-NATO nation, whose leader is an actor and is apparently now commanding our United States military to world war.”
“We must impeach this America Last fool before it’s too late,” Greene insisted.
