Former President Donald Trump is speaking out against Arizona’s Supreme Court’s decision to revive a near-total ban on abortion in the state.

On Wednesday, a reporter asked, “Mr. President did Arizona go too far? Did Arizona go too far, sir?”

“Yeah, they did. That’ll be straightened out. As you know it’s all about state’s rights,” Trump responded.

He continued, “It’ll be straightened out. I’m sure that the governor and everybody else are going bring it back to within reason. And that will be taking care of, I think, very quickly.”

The governor of Arizona is Katie Hobbs, who is a Democrat and defeated Republican candidate Kari Lake in 2022.

The law revived the Arizona Supreme Court bans abortion from the moment of conception. However, it does provide an exception for the life of the woman.

In a statement on Tuesday, Lake said, “In addition to covering the state of Arizona as a fair and honest journalist for 27 years, I have traveled to every corner of this state on the campaign trail. I speak to more Arizonans than anyone and it is abundantly clear that the pre-statehood law is out of step with Arizonans.”

“I am the only woman and mother in this race. I understand the fear, anxiety and joy of pregnancy and motherhood. I wholeheartedly agree with President Trump — this is a very personal issue that should be determined by each individual state and her people,” she continued.

Lake added, “I oppose today’s ruling, and am calling on Katie Hobbs and the State Legislature to come up with an immediate common sense solution that Arizonans can support.”
