President Joe Biden is speaking out against anti-Israel protesters who engage in acts of violence.
Speaking at the White House on Thursday, Biden said, “Let me be clear, violent protest is not protected, peaceful protest is. It’s against the law when violence occurs. Destroying property is not a peaceful protest, it’s against the law.”
“Vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations, none of this is a peaceful protest,” he continued.
Biden added, “Threatening people, intimidating people, instilling fear in people is not a peaceful protest. It’s against the law.”

His comments come after law enforcement arrested over 300 people at Columbia University and City College as officers clear pro-Palestinian encampments and after violence broke out between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Additionally, over 100 protesters were arrested as law enforcement cleared a pro-Palestinian camp on the UCLA campus on Wednesday.
