Politico Ripped Over Article Stating Harris Has ‘Greater Security Risks’ Because She’s a Woman

WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 25: U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris speaks to reporters after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Vice President's ceremonial office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on July 25, 2024 in Washington, DC. Netanyahu’s visit occurs as the Israel-Hamas war reaches nearly ten months. In addition to meeting with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Netanyahu also met with U.S. President Joe BIden and families of American Hostages held by Hamas. Politico is facing criticism over a story about the security risks facing Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a post on X, the outlet wrote, “Kamala Harris faces greater security risks because she’s a woman and person of color — and the Secret Service is almost certainly taking that into account, said retired agent Jeff James.”

Kamala Harris faces greater security risks because she’s a woman and person of color — and the Secret Service is almost certainly taking that into account, said retired agent Jeff James.

A Q&A with James on how the agency should navigate this challenging moment ⬇️…

— POLITICO (@politico) July 25, 2024

Retired Secret Service agent Jeff James told the outlet, “Being that Kamala Harris is both a woman and a person of color, I’m sure the Secret Service is prepared for the heightened threat against her.”

“I think you’d be surprised how many people in 2024 still have a very closed mindset and think the president should be a white Christian male, and anything outside of that is unacceptable,” he continued. “I don’t have any access to the intelligence surrounding Vice President Harris, but if my experience is any indicator, it is going to be a heightened level of concern for sure.”

James also addressed the security failures that occurred before the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

However, users on X had some issues with a tweet about “greater” security threats for Harris after Trump was nearly assassinated not even two weeks ago.

Did anything significant happen to a presidential candidate on July 13, less than two weeks ago…?! 🤷‍♀️🤔

Trump was shot in the head, but Kamala Harris is the real victim.

You absolute clowns. https://t.co/Oho9PGM3WM

Ah that checks out.

If Secret Service had just been warned that Donald Trump was also a person of color (that color being orange…), then maybe they wouldn't have done such a terrible just protecting him a few weeks ago. https://t.co/36ERVU9FA4

Her white male opponent came a few millimeters from having his brains scattered across the front row of his rally on national television. https://t.co/XYf0jvBkaP
