Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed Sunday that he believes President-elect Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in November due to his superior strength.
Harris lost all seven battleground states to Trump, who also won the popular vote by over 2 million votes, according to the Cook Political Report. Zelenskyy, on the “Lex Fridman Podcast,” said Trump demonstrated both mental and physical strength, particularly through his rallies, which dispelled concerns about his age or fitness for office.

“He was stronger. He was much more stronger than Kamala Harris. [President Joe] Biden first and then Kamala Harris, yes? He showed that he can intellectually and physically,” Zelenskyy said. “It was an important point to show that if you want to have a strong country, you have to be strong. And he was strong. And this number of rallies, what I said, is not a simple thing. He showed that he can. He is strong.”
“So he doesn’t have any questions with his, I mean, this age and etc. Nothing. He is young. He is young here and his brains work. So I think it’s important, very important. And, of course, a lot of interior questions,” he continued. “I understand the prices and etc. Economic questions and the questions of … other things … A lot of things. I understand. So maybe he answered, answered on those questions which people had.”
Nearly 55% of registered voters favored Trump over Harris on managing the economy, the issue they ranked the most important, according to a Gallup poll published in October. Over 50% of voters said the economy was “extremely important” and 38% said it was “very important” in driving their decision on which candidate to support.
Trump also held a nine-point lead over Harris on immigration and a five-point lead on foreign affairs, according to the poll.
Following Trump’s victory, the president-elect and billionaire Elon Musk reportedly spoke over the phone with Zelenskyy. Trump reportedly assured Zelenskyy that he would continue providing support for Ukraine and said that he intended to strive for a diplomatic resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war.
