Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said the Democrats’ accusations that the nation is in a “constitutional crisis” under President Donald Trump indicates they have learned nothing from their previous rhetoric during the 2024 election.

Several prominent Democratic lawmakers have warned that Trump and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk’s work to eliminate wasteful spending and reduce the size of the government has put the U.S. in a “constitutional crisis.” McEnany compared the Democrats’ new “buzzword” to their previous claims that Trump is a “threat to democracy” ahead of the 2024 election, indicating that this type of rhetoric is unsuccessful in convincing the American people to be on their side.

“[Democratic New Jersey Sen.] Andy Kim, he went on to say, ‘we’re on the cusp of a constitutional crisis.’ That’s the new buzzword, because I heard [Democratic Connecticut Sen.] Chris Murphy say ‘it’s a constitutional crisis.” It’s as if they’ve not learned that the existential rhetoric did not work, the threat to democracy, not to mention we have sound we could pull up from any moment in December of [House Minority Leader] Hakeem Jeffries talking about government shutdowns hurting working people and those affected by hurricanes. What happened to that logic? It’s out the window 60 days later,” McEnany said.

WATCH:

Fox News contributor Guy Benson criticized the Democrats for consistently stating that “no one elected Elon Musk,” arguing that the party has backed federal bureaucrats for decades and is currently failing to “grapple with that hypocrisy.”

Trump and Musk dismantled the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) on Feb. 3 due to the agency spending billions of taxpayer dollars on left-wing causes around the globe, including a $2 million grant to fund sex change operations in Guatemala and sending over 65 million condoms abroad. After taking action on the agency, Trump appointed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to serve as acting director of USAID.

Democratic Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy told ABC’s “This Week” Sunday that the U.S. is facing “the most serious constitutional crisis the country has ever faced,” while Democratic New Jersey Sen. Andy Kim warned on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the U.S. is on the “cusp of a constitutional crisis” and is prepared to shut down the government over Trump’s recent actions.

Lawmakers threatened that their party is at war against Trump and Musk during a Feb. 4 protest outside of the Department of Treasury building, with Democratic Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley warning she will set “fire” to the Republican party and called Musk a “Nazi nutball baby” and a “godless, lawless billionaire.” Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar further said they can expect to see people get killed in response to the dismantlement of USAID.

A handful of congressional Democrats attempted to force their way into the Department of Education (ED) building Friday in response to Trump’s plan to shut down the agency over its failure to improve students’ test scores despite the amount of spending it pours into the public education system. The federal government spent $190 billion on public education since the COVID-19 without witnessing an improvement in students’ proficiency and test scores in subjects such as math, reading and science.
