A U.S. lawmaker has said the government cannot afford to continue its reckless spending.

Fox Business host Stuart Varney asked Rep. Aaron Bean (R-Fla.) during an interview if there are any plans for Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to release a report on the wasteful spending done by the government.

Bean noted that the Democrats are against the work of Musk to the point they now dismiss everything Musk says.

“It’s just a shame,” Bean said. “It’s almost like this … Somebody breaks into your house, Elon Musk reviews the videotape, tells you who did it, and you scream, oh, you don’t, you shouldn’t have access to the videotape, and that’s what the Democrats are just doubling and tripling down on.”

Bean noted that the government can longer afford to run the way it has been and called the current spending “addictive.”

We have a government that we cannot afford and must wean ourselves off reckless spending.

And that’s exactly what @HouseGOP is doing!

“As you know, Stuart, because I’ve watched you, you know, we have a government we can’t afford, and we have to wean ourselves off of this addictive government spending, and that’s what we’re doing right now,” Bean said.

Varney noted that all of the wasteful spending has been documented on its government website and contains thousands of lines detailing everything, adding that Democrats could simply look for themselves.

“That simple Stuart Varney it’s just … a new level of Trump derangement syndrome,” Bean said. “It’s now Musk derangement syndrome. And anything that Trump or Musk is for, the Democrats seem to be against.”

Varney noted that there had been a total of $135 billion in unemployment insurance fraud uncovered by DOGE since its inception.

“It’s 135 billion minimum, it could be more of insurance fraud, unemployment insurance fraud during the pandemic,” Bean said. “And I’ll tell you who did it, fraudsters, con men, outright thieves, who stole American taxpayer money. They didn’t make a mistake on a form. They purposely misused the system to steal from us.”

Bean said that legislation has now been lodged to help get some of the money back in government coffers.

“And so yesterday, we launched, or this week, a bill to get the money back,” he said. “This bill extends the statue limitations to go after the fraudsters. The Biden administration, for whatever reason, didn’t make it a priority to get our money back, but Trump and our great Secretary of Justice Pam Bondi will make it a priority to get our money back.”
