Republican Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett tore into the Biden administration’s immigration policies on Fox Business Monday and accused Democrats of welcoming violent criminals into the United States.

Justice Samuel Alito slammed the Supreme Court for sidestepping normal procedures to block President Donald Trump’s use of wartime powers to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members. During an appearance on “The Evening Edit,” Burchett accused Democrats of embracing violent criminals and undermining national security by allowing dangerous foreign nationals to flood across the southern border.

“I think the Democrats need to get a new pollster, Liz, unless they’re polling on death row somewhere in some prison. This is clearly out of whack. There is no way on God’s green earth that anybody is whispering in their ear telling them they need to start defending these gang members,” Burchett told host Elizabeth MacDonald.

Burchett said at least 20 million individuals have entered the U.S. unlawfully in the last four years.

“These illegals have flowed over our border, 20 million we know of, at least in the last four years. We have members of the Taliban that have come over. We have Chinese communist spies. We have known gang members, human traffickers, organ harvesters, the worst of the worst,” Burchett added. “Their weapon of choice is generally a machete. They like beheading people there. They brutally rape young girls and women. These are the people that the Democratic Party has embraced.”

MacDonald said that former presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and George W. Bush collectively deported six million individuals with minimal judicial interference, which was far less resistance than President Donald Trump faced. Burchett then criticized the GOP’s historical strategy of appointing moderate judges to appease the left.

“They put liberal and moderate judges on. The Republicans got to quit playing ball with the left wing and quit saying, ‘Oh, we’re gonna put some moderates on the court to even things out,’” Burchett said. “Listen, politics is a contact sport. It is a blood sport. We need to start playing hard mouth and quit playing footsie with these people. And that is exactly what happens when we have these moderate and liberal presidents.”

The Supreme Court overturned District Judge James Boasberg’s orders in a 5-4 ruling on April 7, finding he lacked jurisdiction over a case originating in Texas. The justices allowed the administration to proceed with deportations but said that detainees must receive timely notice to pursue legal relief.

In a related case, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) sought a temporary restraining order from a Texas judge, who was given just 42 minutes to respond before the ACLU escalated the matter to the Fifth Circuit, which ruled it had no jurisdiction. Boasberg threatened the administration with criminal contempt on Wednesday for allegedly violating his earlier order by allowing two deportation flights to land in El Salvador. Alito said that both the executive and judicial branches must follow the law.
