Well, well, well — it looks like the media meltdown has arrived, and not even the “woke verticals” are safe anymore.

NBC News just slashed 7% of its workforce, and let’s not gloss over who got hit hardest. The dedicated teams covering race, gender identity, and every niche identity group under the progressive sun? Yep, they were the first ones out the door. NBC BLK, NBC OUT, NBC Latino, NBC Asian America — all got stripped of their dedicated teams. But don’t worry, NBC swears these topics will still be covered. Just… you know, more broadly. By someone. Somewhere. Eventually.

It’s hard not to notice the irony here. After years of telling us that identity-based journalism was essential to informing the public — that every story had to be filtered through a race or gender lens — NBC just quietly rolled it all back with a pink slip. It’s almost like once the corporate bottom line got tight, the DEI budget wasn’t so sacred after all.

BREAKING: Fake news NBC has FIRED ~150 employees (7% of its staff) as ratings continue to plummet.

Reports also indicated that diversity teams dedicated to black, latino, asian American, and LGBTQ news were among the cuts.

And it’s not just NBC. Comcast is swinging the axe more widely, separating networks, restructuring divisions, and creating a new umbrella brand called “Versant” — a name so corporate and vague it practically screams “we have no idea what we’re doing.” MSNBC will even get rebranded to “MSNOW.” Yes, really. Because apparently, nothing says credibility like sounding like a diet supplement.

You know what’s really happening here? These media giants are scrambling. Years of chasing clicks with virtue-signaling headlines, alienating half the country, and paying television talking heads like Anderson Cooper $18 million a year to smirk at flyover states — it’s all catching up to them. Now they’re quietly gutting departments and praying no one notices.

But we noticed.

Should NBC News focus less on identity-based journalism after recent layoffs?

And we’re not the only ones. CBS is rumored to be on the chopping block next. CNN? Already trimming fat, and whispers about slashing anchor salaries are swirling. Gayle King, Jake Tapper, the whole polished crew of narrative enforcers might be looking at leaner paychecks soon. Imagine trying to justify $15 million a year to read a teleprompter while your network bleeds relevance.

Here’s the punchline: NBC says those laid off can still apply for over 100 open roles across the company. Translation? “Hey, we just fired you, but if you’d like to grovel for a new job — with likely less pay, less prestige, and even less purpose — the door’s open.”

Let’s be honest. This isn’t just about budget cuts. It’s a silent admission that the model is broken. The media empire built on outrage clicks, identity politics, and treating the news like a cultural warzone is no longer profitable. The trust is gone, the audience is fractured, and people are tuning out in droves. Especially the people who don’t want their evening news served with a side of guilt, grievance, and a lecture about systemic oppression.

Well look at that! Americans are healing, we are just red blooded Americans. No more force feed division.

It’s no coincidence NBC is laying off 150 people as the Democrats unsuccessfully demand $490.9 million in federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).… pic.twitter.com/zP4hncUXay

And here’s what they won’t say out loud: covering America like it’s a patchwork of fragile identities instead of a unified nation doesn’t work when the country’s actually looking for something real. Something truthful. Something that sounds less like a college sociology class and more like, well, news.

So go ahead, rebrand your networks, rename MSNBC to MSNOW (seriously, who signed off on that?), and keep pretending this is just “strategic realignment.” The rest of us see what’s really going on — the legacy media’s golden era of ideological bloat is over.
