Because apparently, attacking a man’s policy is outdated when you can imply his wife is some kind of prisoner. You can practically hear the champagne corks popping in MSNBC’s green room.

Yes, the producers went all-in on the bizarre fan-fiction that Usha Vance is basically Rapunzel trapped in JD’s conservative tower. Not only is that completely untrue — it’s also deeply patronizing. Imagine reducing a brilliant, accomplished woman to some damsel in distress just because she married a Republican who doesn’t buy into the media’s groupthink.
It’s not satire. It’s not “just a joke.” It’s strategic, calculated ridicule meant to dehumanize. Vance isn’t just a political threat — now he’s a personal one. A man so “scary” that his wife, they claim, must secretly want to escape. This is the new playbook: If you can’t beat them on policy, invent a home-life horror story and hope someone believes it.
