Thursday was a seemingly good day for President Donald Trump after he heard the news that his nemesis — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — was retiring.
Pelosi made the announcement in a video posted on social media that she would retire at the end of her term in January 2027, per Fox News.
“The retirement of Nancy Pelosi is a great thing for America. She was evil, corrupt, and only focused on bad things for our country,” Trump said. “She was rapidly losing control of her party.”
“I’m very honored she impeached me twice and failed miserably twice. Nancy Pelosi is a highly overrated politician,” Trump added.
Trump and Pelosi have been adversaries dating back to his first term as president when she was Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Pelosi famously tore up Trump’s State of the Union speech in 2020.
That move earned her the nickname “Crazy Nancy” by Trump.
Earlier this week, Pelosi did not hold back in her feelings about Trump.
“He’s just a vile creature, the worst thing on the face of the earth,” she said, IJR previously reported.
Pelosi served as House speaker from 2007 to 2011 and from 2019 to 2023.
Pelosi, 85, did not mention Trump in her announcement, but focused on her love for San Francisco and some Democratic priorities like climate change.
Pelosi was first elected to Congress in 1987 after winning a special election to replace the late Rep. Sala Burton (D-Calif.).
