The font was not very big, but the mistake was glaring on a Hanukkah party invitation hosted by the vice president.

As “Jewish Insider” senior national correspondent Gabby Deutch looked at her invitation, she noticed two distinctive holidays mentioned  — Hanukkah and Christmas.

Deutch posted her invitation on X, which read, “The Vice President and The Second Lady request the pleasure of your company for a Hanukkah Reception at the Vice President’s Residence.

The top of the invite read, “The Golden Noel: CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF CHRISTMAS AT THE VICE PRESIDENT’S RESIDENCE.”

“Some niche White House Jewish history I just learned,” Deutch posted.

“In ’08, Bush’s press sec apologized after the WH Hanukkah party invite had a Christmas tree on it,” she continued.

“Meanwhile, this year’s invite for the VP’s Hanukkah party: ‘Celebrating 50 years of Christmas,’” she wrote.

Should the Vice President change the invitation wording for the Hanukkah party?

Some niche White House Jewish history I just learned:

As Deutch referenced, Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance aren’t the first to make a mistake on a Hanukkah invitation.

Sally McDonough, President George W. Bush’s press secretary, apologized for a faux pas in 2008.

Those invitations, sent for  a White House Hanukkah reception, included images of a Christmas tree and a Christmas wreath hanging on the White House.

McDonough said the mistake was made because staff printed the same holiday card for all the events.

“Mrs. Bush is apologetic, It is just something that fell through the cracks,” McDonough said at the time.
