SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly criticized CNN host Abby Phillip and said she should be fired during a Thursday episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
Kelly aired footage on her show of Phillip deflecting from Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s rambling answer on whether the U.S. should send troops to protect Taiwan if China invades by attacking President Donald Trump. The SiriusXM host mocked Phillip for asking, “Are we going to really pretend that the actual president of the United States has not made similar or perhaps worse flubs?”

“Are we really going to pretend that you’re the answer to CNN’s need for fair and balanced coverage and new audience? Because you’re failing. No one watches you,” Kelly said. “Your audience has been cut to below 400,000, which is a complete embarrassment. You ought to be fired, and your cocky, smug sense of self ought to be wiped away in one ratings period because no one watches you. What does it say that you’re the most interesting thing on CNN and literally nobody’s watching you? You don’t have a long job trajectory, sweetheart.”
“And when you eventually get fired as your network implodes and try to go out into the independent lane, you will fail there too because all you do is speak in a monotone and say things that attack President Trump while trying to sound reasonable, but not being reasonable and constantly cutting off the one conservative on your panel and showing slight indignation whenever they make a good point for the — I mean, who could listen to this woman? It’s horrible,” she added. “She’s got more people on her panel than she does audience members.”
Phillip’s nightly show “CNN NewsNight” has consistently drawn well over 700,000 viewers since Jan. 15, according to ustvdb.com. From Dec. 30 to Jan. 12, the show drew over 500,000 viewers each night.
Kelly also condemned Phillip for enabling left-wing podcaster Jennifer Welch to dub White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller a “Nazi Jew” during a December episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show.” Welch made the comment on her “I’ve Had It” podcast in October when Phillip was a guest, with the CNN host providing zero pushback.
“You’re such an asshole! I’m sorry, but Abby Phillip is a fucking asshole! She let her call him a Nazi Jew and just said, ‘I’m sorry, but I can’t speak to what his motivations are.’ What a cowardly dodge, just to try to maintain some semblance of objectivity,” Kelly said. “The only proper response to that is, ‘Come on, hold it. Hold it. We can criticize his immigration policy all day long if you want. Don’t call him a Nazi Jew. That’s disgusting.’”
Moreover, Phillip acknowledged that CNN leaned left, placing its political bent somewhere between Fox News and MS NOW on “The Breakfast Club” in October.
“We’re probably center-left,” Phillip said. “And I think that has a lot to do with our audience.”
