The Democratic National Committee has granted former presidential hopeful Andrew Yang the opportunity to speak at the upcoming convention after his supporters spoke out on his behalf.
Yang penned a Tweet on Thursday to thank his supporters and announce when they should expect him to step on stage.
“And it’s official – we have been added to the DNC Convention speaker lineup! Thank you [Yang Gang] and everyone else who made this happen! [Yang is speaking], ” he said.

According to Yang, he will be speaking on August 20 around 9 p.m.
His announcement comes just two days after he expressed his disappointment with the decision.
“I’ve got to be honest I kind of expected to speak,” Yang said.

The convention is set to be held August 17-20 where Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will accept the nomination.
Several prominent figures are expected to deliver speeches, as IJR previously reported.
The convention is titled “Uniting America” and will feature “individuals from all walks of life, political affiliations and every corner of the country who support” Biden.
On Monday, August 17, speakers will turn their attention to the coronavirus pandemic, unemployment, and racial injustices.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) are just a few of the notable figures who will kick off the convention.
Speakers on Tuesday will focus on “those who seek to unite and not divide.”
A few of those speakers include Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), former President Bill Clinton, and former Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
Tuesday will also include a keynote address.
On Wednesday, Biden’s running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.). will make a speech.
Speeches from others, including President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, will also be featured.
Biden will take to the stage on Thursday, along with a few others, including Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), and Atlanta, Ga., Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has also been given one minute to speak, as IJR previously reported.
