Grammy award-winning singer Ariana Grande is urging her fans to take the coronavirus seriously.

On Sunday, the “7 Rings” singer took to Twitter and her Instagram story with a lengthy statement encouraging her followers to practice “social distancing.”

Over the last week, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) offered a number of recommendations to help “flatten the curve” of the coronavirus. Initially, the CDC suggested gatherings of more than 250 people should be avoided.

Now, that suggestion has been decreased to crowds with a maximum of 50 people.

Grande wrote on Twitter:

“I keep hearing from a surprising amount of people statements like ‘this isn’t a big deal’/’we’ll be fine’… ‘we still have to go about our lives’ and it’s really blowing my mind. I understand if that is how [you] felt weeks ago. But please read about what’s going on. Please don’t turn a blind eye. It’s incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation that lightly.”

Grande went on to criticize the efforts to downplay the outbreak while stressing the dangers of taking the situation lightly.

“The ‘we will be fine because we’re young’ mindset is putting people who aren’t young and/or healthy in a lot of danger. You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others. like now,” she wrote.

Grande went on to discuss H.R.6201, Families First Coronavirus Response Act — which the House passed on Saturday. The singer aimed to raise awareness about the bill explaining how Americans would benefit from it during this critical time.

She tweeted, “Please support H.R.6201 which has passed the house. This bill will provide people w necessary financial support in terms of paid sick leave/unemployment due to coronavirus/isolation/prevention! Please contact your Senate to support the passing of this bill! Urgently.”

Grande’s announcement follows a string of reports about the spread of the coronavirus. Over the last week, the number of confirmed cases has surged in the United States.

Multiple states have opted to shut down schools, statewide, for the next two weeks at least.
