Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is firing back at President Donald Trump for accusing him of taking drugs to perform better during debates.

A reporter with WFLA in Tampa, Florida, noted Trump has accused Biden of being “mentally shot” and suggested he is “taking something.”

He asked Biden how he would respond to the accusation and if he is looking forward to the debates.

“I’m looking forward to the debate and he’s a fool. The comments are just foolish,” Biden said.

He added, “Get ready, Mr. President, here I come.”

During a phone call to “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday, co-host Steve Doocy asked Trump, “Do you think he’s taking some sort of drugs to pep him up?” as IJR previously reported.

Trump replied, “I do, he’s taking something. He’s taking something, you know that gives him some clarity.”

Doocy joked, “Maybe it’s a cup of coffee?”

Trump added, “Yeah, maybe he had a lot of coffee. Maybe he had 15 cups of coffee.”

In August, the president revealed he is going to call for drug tests for both himself and Biden, as IJR previously reported.

Trump has been critical of Biden’s cognitive abilities in the past.

He took to Twitter in July to call on Biden to take a cognitive test.

“He cannot pass the test I ‘aced.’ He should give it a try!!!” Trump said.

When asked by a CBS News correspondent if he had taken a cognitive test in August, Biden replied, “Why the hell would I take a test?”

The former vice president raised questions about Trump’s intellect amid the coronavirus pandemic in August.

“You know, I used to think it was because of his personality, but I just don’t think he can intellectually handle it,” Biden said.

He added, “I don’t think he’s competent enough to know what to do. He just waved the white flag.”
