President Donald Trump shared that he believes the Charlie Kirk shooting suspect has been caught following a manhunt.
Speaking on “Fox & Friends” Friday morning, the president revealed, “I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him, in custody. Everyone did a great job.”
“I hope he’s going to be found guilty, I would imagine. And I hope he gets the death penalty,” Trump added.
Trump shared that “essentially somebody that was very close” to the suspect turned him in.
“Somebody that was very close to him said, ‘hmm, that’s him.’ And essentially went to the father, went to a U.S. marshal who was fantastic, by the way, and the person was involved with law enforcement, but was a person of faith, a minister, and brought him to a U.S. Marshal who was fantastic and the father convinced the son, this is it,” he said.

Kirk, 31, was delivering remarks during an event on Wednesday at Utah Valley University when chaos erupted. A gunman opened fire in the middle of his speech, striking him fatally in the neck in front of a large crowd.
The Turning Point USA co-founder was considered a rising political force and one of Trump’s most loyal and influential advocates.
UPDATE [09/12/25, 10:05 a.m. EST]: Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin has been identified as Tyler Robinson, 22.
This is a developing story.
