California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) was confronted by a disgruntled mother over his handling of the Los Angeles County wildfires currently destroying the Pacific Palisades and other areas in the city of Los Angeles.

During an interview on Fox News “Jesse Watters Primetime” with host Jesse Watters, California resident Rachel Darvish talked about her confrontation with Newsom as he visited fire-ravaged areas, including her daughter’s school which had perished in the fires.

Darvish said she really wanted to believe Newsom when he said he was currently on a phone call with President Joe Biden.

“I really wanna believe him, I really want to, and there was no cellphone reception in certain areas, OK? But that’s a big problem in and of itself, why doesn’t he have a satellite truck with a cellphone? I drove around with reporters, I’m in a satellite truck, I can talk to you. So, the fact that he couldn’t get cell reception was really, really … not first-string,” Darvish said.

Darvish said that she did know that Newsom was at least “trying,” but noted its “time for something new.”

“It’s time for something new … Why can’t it be someone that knows what they’re doing, that knows how to plan?” Darvish asked, noting the frequency of wildfires in California has done nothing to prompt an appropriate preparation plan from current leaders.

In the video of Darvish confronting Newsom, she can be seen approaching Newsom as he attempts to get into his vehicle and asked what he was doing about the fires.

“Governor, I live here governor, that was my daughter’s school, please tell me what you’re going to do about it,” Darvish said.

In response, Newsom said he was currently on the phone with President Joe Biden to see what he could do.

“I’m literally talking to the president right now, to specifically answer the question of what we can do for and your daughter,” Newsom said, before stating he was trying to get cellphone service because he has “tried five times” to get Biden on the phone.

“I want to be here when you call the president,” Darvish told Newsom.

“I’m doing that right now,” Newsom responded, “And it’s to immediately get reimbursements and individual assistance to help you. I’m devastated for you, I’m so sorry, especially for your daughter.”

Darvish asked Newsom why there was no water in the fire hydrants, and what he was going to do about it.

Newsom said he was doing everything that he could, including “making sure that people are safe.”
