She was the kid who organized the sideline cheer for the benchwarmers, the teenager who kept score of her friends' small braveries, the adult who discovered that most people are starving for one specific sentence — 'I saw that, and it was great' — and decided to become the person who says it. Her motto arrived fully formed at her sister's third failed driving test, delivered through a rolled-down window: somebody should be cheering. It might as well be me.
