New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) is declaring, “You can control the spread [of the coronavirus]” and the Trump administration is “just wrong.”
Cuomo began his MSNBC interview blasting White House chief of staff Mark Meadows for saying the federal government is “not going to control the pandemic. We are going to control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigation areas.”
The New York governor referred to a line in the movie “A Few Good Men” where Jack Nicholson said, “You can’t handle the truth.” He added, “That was Mark Meadows I think on that interview.”
“‘We can’t control the pandemic,’ that is just not a fact but that answers the riddle of why the White House did what they did since day one,” Cuomo continued, adding, “What they believe is they can’t control the spread of the virus so they never tried.”
“It was the great American surrender. They saw the enemy and they laid down arms… You can control the spread, they’re just wrong.”
Cuomo called on the Trump administration to have “more faith in the American people” and to “tell the truth.”

Cuomo also responded to Meadows’ comments during Monday’s briefing, where he said, “New York State controlled the virus, and we’re controlling it now. Chief of staff says you can’t control the pandemic. New York says you’re wrong, because we did.”
He added, “You can’t eliminate it, but you can control it,” adding, “And that’s important today because we have to control the virus through the vaccine period.”
Meadows also claimed on Monday speaking with reporters, “The only person waving a white flag along with his white mask is Joe Biden.”
