Demi Lovato's Announcement About Pronouns Baffles Twitter Users

Share

Actress Demi Lovato made an announcement about her pronouns and Twitter users were baffled.

During a recent appearance on the “Spout Podcast,” Lovato shared why she has decided to go back to using “she/her” pronouns along with “they/them.”

“I’m such a fluid person when it comes to my gender, my sexuality, my music, my creativity,” Lovato said.

She added, “It’s like, I don’t know where things are going to take me… recently I’ve been feeling more feminine and so I’ve adopted ‘she/her’ again.”

Lovato explained that she felt “like, especially last year, my energy was balanced in my masculine and feminine energy… I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman, I didn’t feel like a man. I just felt like a human and that’s what ‘they/them’ is about for me.”

Are you confused by the announcement?

Piers Morgan tweeted, “FFS. Can she/her/they/them please make up her/their bloody mind?”

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh wrote, “Demi Lovato, a grown adult, switches her ‘gender identity’ every 12 seconds. Meanwhile children are drugged and surgically mutilated — their bodies permanently altered — based on their own ‘gender identity’ declarations, which are even more fickle and subject to change.”

In May 2021, the singer came out with new pronouns.

“Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all — I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward,” Lovato announced on Instagram.

She added, “This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work. I’m still learning and coming into myself, and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson.”

Her post explained that sharing “this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones.”

She continued, “Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way xox.”
