Elon Musk’s transgender child has filed a petition for a name change and to be legally recognized as a female instead of male, according to a report.
TMZ reported Xavier Musk filed the documents in L.A. County, after turning 18 years old. The hearing is expected for Friday.
According to the outlet, the new name requested is Vivian Jenna Wilson.
“In the docs, she says she wants to be recognized as female — but the name change isn’t just about her transitioning, there’s clearly a rift with dear ol’ Dad,” TMZ explained.
The report continues, “Vivian lists her reason for the name change as … ‘Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.'”
The outlet noted Vivian has a twin brother, Griffin, and the last name Wilson comes from their mother.
Justine Wilson gave birth to twin boys Xavier and Griffin Musk in 2004.
Musk commented on the matter of transgender people and pronoun usage in 2020.
“I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare,” Musk said.

Earlier this month, Musk argued, “We are simultaneously being told that gender differences do not exist and that genders are so profoundly different that irreversible surgery is the only option.”
He added, “Perhaps someone wiser than me can explain this dichotomy.”

Perhaps someone wiser than me can explain this dichotomy.
In April, some transgender Twitter users expressed concern that harassment they experienced on the platform could get worse if Musk purchased the company.
“There’s a plethora of ways that he can just make life hell for trans people on sites like this,” Alejandra Caraballo, a clinical instructor at Harvard Law School’s Cyberlaw Clinic and a transgender rights advocate, told NBC News.
Caraballo continued, “And there will be no way to really moderate or keep it in check.”
According to Caraballo, this “is a danger to democracy.”
