CNN’s chief data guy just rang the alarm bells — and not in the way the Democrats were hoping.
According to CNN’s Harry Enten (yes, that Harry Enten, the guy who normally breaks into a cold sweat at the idea of Republicans gaining traction), the grand blue wave the Left was banking on for 2026? It’s looking more like a blue puddle. And it’s shrinking. Fast.
Just six months ago, Democrats had an 83% chance of retaking the House. They were already popping champagne in the MSNBC greenroom, patting each other on the back, and dreaming of more January 6 hearings. Now? That number’s dropped to 63% — and the GOP’s odds have more than doubled, shooting from a lonely 17% to a solid 37%. In the words of Enten himself, Republicans’ chances are “up like a rocket.” Not exactly the kind of trajectory Team Biden wants plastered across CNN.
But the real kicker? Even CNN can’t spin this one into a warm and fuzzy narrative. Enten didn’t come out with the usual “Well, historically…” or “Let’s not panic…” He practically admitted the Democrats are losing altitude with no landing gear in sight.
Why? What’s suddenly dragging the Democrats down after months of media fawning and administration back-patting?
It’s not just one thing — it’s everything.
For starters, Democrats aren’t gaining ground like they did ahead of the 2018 midterms. Back then, it was wall-to-wall anti-Trump hysteria, women in pink hats, and a media class frothing at the mouth 24/7. Now? Voters are tired. Of the spin. Of the inflation. Of the never-ending lectures on gender identity while grocery bills go up and border towns crumble.
Even the new district maps — which, surprise surprise, aren’t looking so good for Democrats — are quietly shifting momentum. You can almost hear the DNC flipping through legal pads in backrooms trying to redraw again, hoping no one notices.
Here’s what no one in the mainstream press wants to say out loud: Republicans were supposed to be dead in the water after 2022. With Trump headlines dominating the airwaves, January 6 committee theater on replay, and a White House desperate to tie every GOP candidate to “extremism,” this next midterm was supposed to be a coronation for House Democrats.
Instead, the narrative is breaking down. Americans aren’t just rolling their eyes at Biden’s painfully awkward press conferences — they’re starting to remember what competence used to look like. You know, things like energy independence, a secure border, and a president who could make it through a sentence without checking his notes five times.
Now CNN — yes, CNN — is on air, warning that the 2026 House race is slipping away from the Left. They’re running out of time, out of momentum, and, frankly, out of people buying what they’re selling.

And let’s talk about the history lesson Enten threw in for good measure — the part where George W. Bush actually gained seats in his midterms. That little reminder is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Because it means one thing: midterms don’t always punish the party in power.
Sometimes, they reward the one that isn’t actively trying to socially reengineer the country at warp speed while printing money like it’s Monopoly night at the Treasury.
So don’t look now, but the 2026 red wave might be coming early. And if even CNN is starting to read the writing on the wall — the question isn’t whether Republicans can keep the House.
It’s how big the panic gets on the Left when they realize… they just might lose more than that.
