After another assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, a former FBI agent is pointing to what he believes may have contributed to the attempts.

During an interview on CNN, former FBI counterterrorism agent Tim Clemente said, “It’s unprecedented in a civilized society, and I think we’re becoming more and more uncivilized, sadly, with the political diatribes that are going on and the political new indictments of either candidate.”

“And sadly, the finger pointing at Trump has led to — you know — you know, the line about the blood — bloodbath, talking about the auto industry being used as if he’s going to create a bloody coup if he loses. That kind of verbiage is something you use in a third-world country when you’re talking about a dictator, and that sadly has led to, I think, these attempts on Trump’s life, and I don’t think it’s going to end,” he continued.

Clemente referred to claims Trump has said there will be a “bloodbath” if he loses the election. The claims suggest the former president is anticipating violence. However, FactCheck.org notes Trump was using the word in the context of the economy.

Clemente said, “I think we just have to realize, look, we’re political opponents. You and I might not agree on 50% of what we care about politically. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t mean we can’t be friends, neighbors, and relatives and have a regular dialogue every day. We have to get back to that talk about our differences, but not in a way that makes us feel like you’re the enemy and I’m all good.”

WOW. Some sanity on CNN!

On Sunday, Trump was at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, when Secret Secret Service agents a few holes ahead of the former president on the field saw the muzzle of an AK-47-style rifle sticking through the pushes and opened fire.

The Associated Press notes the gunman dropped his gun and fled but was later arrested and identified as Ryan Routh.

Law enforcement officials said they found two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera in the spot where Routh was allegedly hiding.

The alleged would-be assassin reportedly was a strong supporter of Ukraine, previously stating he was willing to fight and die for the country.

Trump was reported to be safe after the incident.

Sunday’s assassination attempt was the second attempt on Trump’s life in nine weeks.
