A Louisiana courtroom this week heard emotional testimony from a teenager at the center of a criminal case involving former DeRidder Mayor Misty Roberts, 43.

According to the New York Post, Roberts was found guilty Tuesday on charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile, stemming from incidents at a 2024 birthday party for her son.

The teen said during his testimony that tensions escalated after Roberts’ son confronted her during the party, which he described as chaotic and stressful.

“Go fight your friend. He’s the one who did it,” Roberts allegedly shouted at her son, according to the victim’s testimony.

“She was trying to get him to fight me,” the teen told the jury. “She was trying to get the blame off of herself.”

The witness said he sat nearby, overwhelmed by the confrontation.

“I was kind of shell-shocked,” he said.

The teen then described feeling disoriented and overwhelmed by the situation.

Should former Mayor Misty Roberts be required to register as a sex offender following her conviction?

“While it was happening, I couldn’t feel my body,” he said.

“After we had sex, I kinda was realizing what was happening.”

The trial revealed how Roberts, the mother of two, interacted with the teen during the party before leading him away from the gathering.

After hearing the evidence, the jury returned a guilty verdict on both charges.

As part of the case’s outcome, Roberts will be required to register as a sex offender.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on April 17.

This conviction ends the political career of the former DeRidder mayor, whose actions shocked the small Louisiana community she once led.
