As a former Louisiana mayor fights serious criminal charges in court, her brother is now facing allegations of his own.
According to the New York Post, Brandon Lee Roberts, 39, has been accused of raping a teenage girl and assaulting a young woman over a period of several years, according to local reports.
Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford said the alleged abuse began when one of the victims was as young as 13.
Roberts was arrested in October in connection with the accusations.
The charges against him come amid the high-profile legal battle involving his sister, Misty Roberts, the former mayor of DeRidder.
Misty Roberts, 43, is accused of raping her son’s 16-year-old friend during a party at her home. Authorities have alleged that the encounter occurred during a drunken gathering and that her own children discovered what had happened.
She was arrested months later and is currently on trial on rape charges.
The separate cases have drawn significant attention in the small Louisiana community, where both siblings are now entangled in serious criminal proceedings.
Brandon Lee Roberts’ case remains pending following his October arrest. Meanwhile, his sister continues to contest the allegations against her in court.
Both matters are being handled independently by local authorities.
