Miles Taylor, the former Chief of Staff for the Department of Homeland Security, spoke out against President Donald Trump as he recalled the moment where he decided that he needed to distance himself from the Trump administration.

During an interview on “Meet the Press,” Taylor revealed Trump offered pardons to DHS officials who would ultimately be breaking laws by enforcing his illegal immigration demands.

Taylor recalled the president’s visit to the United States-Mexico border in April 2019. According to the former official, Trump said, “That’s it. I don’t want you to let anyone else into the country. … The bins are full.”

“It was conveyed to the president that it actually would be illegal for us to deny asylees entry into the border,” Taylor said. “In other words, under U.S. law, someone who comes and claims asylum at our border, has to be their claim has to be considered and let into the United States for legal process, as appropriate.”

“So, it was made clear to the president that doing that would be an illegal act,” Taylor said. “We could not prevent individuals coming in if they had a legitimate asylum plan.”

Taylor discussed what occurred behind the scenes that day as he revealed what the president’s offer to the group of officials.

“Behind the scenes, he wanted us to tell judges was ‘just tell judges the bins are full,'” Taylor said, adding, “When again, the president was told that couldn’t be done, he said, ‘Don’t worry about it. Do it. If you get in trouble, I will pardon you.'”

Taylor’s latest remarks come with the release of a new anti-Trump ad. The ad highlights Taylor’s claims about Trump while raising concerns about the immigration policies in place.

Since leaving the Trump administration, Taylor has launched the REPAIR initiative aimed at getting Trump out of the White House.
