Vice President JD Vance told Daily Caller editorial director Vince Coglianese Thursday that he would need to be completely intoxicated to come up with former Vice President Kamala Harris’ “word salads.”

The vice president joked that he cannot relate to drinking “four shots of vodka” before every meeting, which he said would be necessary to answer “word salad” questions like Harris. He also speculated that Harris and former President Joe Biden did not place much trust in each other, leading the former vice president to “feel less empowered to do her job.”

“How are you doing the job differently than Kamala did it?” Coglianese asked.

“Well, I don’t have four shots of vodka before every meeting. That’s one way I think that Kamala really tried to bring herself into the role is these word salads and I think I would need the help of a lot of alcohol to answer a question the way that Kamala Harris answered questions,” Vance replied. “I mean, look, my sense is, and this is a little bit of guesswork obviously [because] I don’t talk to Kamala Harris or Joe Biden very often, but my sense is that there wasn’t a level of trust between Biden and Harris and so she was just less empowered to do her job and luckily, I’m in a situation where [President Donald Trump] trusts me, where if he asks me to do something, he believes it’s going to happen and obviously, we’ll talk about it and check in. But I feel empowered in a way that I think a lot of vice presidents haven’t been.”

WATCH:

Harris largely avoided interviews during her 2024 presidential run, which many political pundits attributed to her tendency to delve into lengthy word salads when asked about policy. When she finally began her media blitz in October, the then-vice president frequently gave lengthy, disjointed responses to simple questions.

In 2022, Harris began talking the “significant of the passage of time” without tying it to any significance. She also earned widespread ridicule over her “coconut tree” remark as she tried to explain the need to invest in the next generation of Americans.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people, you think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” Harris said while cackling. “You exist in the context of all in which you live and what you came before you.”

After the Russia-Ukraine war broke out, the then-vice president explained to “The Morning Hustle” that Ukraine “is a country in Europe” that happens to be smaller than Russia.

“It exists next to another country, called Russia. Russia is a bigger country, Russia is a powerful country,” Harris said at the time. “Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine, so basically, that’s wrong.”

The former vice president also recently invoked her appreciation for Doritos while attempting to discuss “innovation” at a March 10 artificial intelligence (AI) conference.

“We did DoorDash ’cause I wanted Doritos. And the red carpet part was about to start and nobody wanted to leave to go to the grocery store,” Harris said. “So it was DoorDash … So I was willing to give up whatever might be the tracking of Kamala Harris’ particular fondness for nacho cheese Doritos for the sake of getting a big bag of Doritos as I watched the Oscars.”

During a Sept. interview with 6ABC Philadelphia’s Action News, Harris diverged into a recollection of her childhood without answering the reporter’s question on how she planned to make life more affordable.

“I’ll start with this. I grew up a middle-class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard, she was able to finally save up enough money to buy our first house when I was a teenager. I grew up in a community of hardworking people, you know, construction workers and nurses and teachers,” Harris said. “I tried to explain to some people who may not have had the same experience, you know, a lot of people will relate to this. You know, I grew up in a neighborhood of folks who were very proud of their lawn, you know. And I was raised to believe and to know that all people deserve dignity. And that we as Americans have a beautiful character.”
