“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg is turning to the Bible to defend access to abortion.
During a segment of the show on Monday, Goldberg stated, “No one is obligated to have an abortion. So you never have to have one. And I hope no one ever has to have one.”
She argued, “It’s nobody’s business. It’s you, your doctor, and God. That’s who you have to be conversational to.”
She then decided to cite the Ten Commandments, and the lack of a specific reference to abortion, to defend it:
“It’s not mentioned in the Big Ten, I’m just gonna say. In the Big Ten, it is not mentioned… Cause I figure, God was pretty clear. Here’s the stuff that will make your life better on earth. Don’t lie, cause you don’t want people lying to you. Don’t mess with somebody’s wife, cause you’re going to be made if they’re messing with yours. Just, you know, common sense stuff.”

Co-host Joy Behar clarified that Goldberg was referring to the Ten Commandments.
Meanwhile, Sunny Hostin pointed out pro-life advocates will cite the portion of the commandments that states, “Thou shalt not kill.”
However, Goldberg responded, “Here’s the thing, I think thou shalt not kill cannot be used… because we allow wars all the time. The Crusades were about all these things.”
“So there is some conversation to be had here. Either, thou shalt not kill for everybody and everything. Or we have to talk about all the things that you and I need to do,” she added.
