Sunny Hostin Tells Ana Navarro She Cannot Understand 'How a Latina Woman' Can Be a Republican

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin is struggling to understand why Latino voters are not Democrats.

During a segment of the show on Monday, Hostin expressed her confusion as to why co-host Ana Navarro is a Republican as she said, “I still don’t understand why she’s a Republican. I do truly believe that the Republican Party is the Trumplican Party.”

She cited a study that found 80% of Republicans identify Trump as the leader of the party, regardless of whether they want him to run again.

Hostin described the party as “a party of white supremacy,” “fascism,” and “all the things that are counter to our democracy.”

“For Ana, one of my issues has been, I don’t understand how a Latina woman — who even left from Nicaragua — could be part of a party…” she began.

Navarro interjected to explain her party affiliation as she said, “Because when I came to this country, the Republican Party was the party that stood up against communism. And that is something that is ingrained in me, in the same way, that being a Catholic is ingrained in you.”

She then attempted to flip the script on Hostin as she said, “When Pope Benedict, who was part and parcel of covering up the pedophilia scandal in the church, was pope, you still stayed in the Catholic Church because you know there’s more…”

However, Hostin interrupted to point out she had stopped going to church.

Do you think Latino voters should back Democrats?

This is not the first time Hostin has expressed confusion about why Latino voters are Republicans.

On Friday, Navarro ripped into Republican governors for transporting migrants to other parts of the country.

“Republicans talk every day against communism, and against socialism. And yet they have no conscience and no qualms about using victims of communism and socialism as political pawns and a political stunt to get the base out,” she said.

Navarro added, “That is inhumane. It is unconscionable. It is heartless. It is cruel. And I will tell you what it is not. It is not Christian!”

In case you missed it:

Hostin chimed in, “That’s what’s so interesting to me that there are so many Latinos that vote Republican because they vote against their own self-interest.”

“If you really are interested in these types of issues, then you’re a Democrat,” she added.
