It’s happening again — and this time, it’s not in the usual sanctuary city echo chambers where local politicians hand out “know your rights” pamphlets faster than fentanyl crosses the southern border. No, now the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown is expanding to Kansas and Ohio, and you can practically hear the sirens going off in left-wing Twitter HQ.

According to sources that spoke with The Daily Wire, more than 200 ICE agents are being deployed to those two states with one job: arrest Somali illegal immigrants — specifically those who already have deportation orders and may be tied to an alleged billion-dollar fraud ring. Yes, billion, with a B. If you missed the story because legacy media buried it under twelve layers of “Republicans pounce” headlines, here’s the quick version: a massive alleged scam involving fake nonprofits and shell companies in Minnesota siphoned billions in taxpayer dollars meant for welfare programs — and funneled that cash back to Somalia. Oh, and allegedly, even to terrorist group Al-Shabaab. But don’t worry, your local blue-state leaders are definitely more outraged about border agents doing their jobs than they are about money possibly ending up in the hands of terrorists.

After ICE deployed over 100 officers to Minneapolis earlier this year, the usual suspects responded like clockwork. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey — who seems to have confused being a mayor with being an Instagram influencer — rushed out to say he’d not be cooperating with ICE and pledged his loyalty to the Somali community. Because of course he did. When you’re a Democrat these days, resisting federal law enforcement is a resume booster.

Trump, not one to let that slide, didn’t mince words. He called Frey “a fool,” and flat-out said what a lot of Americans are thinking but are too afraid to say out loud: Why, exactly, are we celebrating the fact that one American city has become the epicenter of Somali immigration — especially when it’s now the center of alleged billion-dollar fraud and alleged terrorist financing? Call it insensitive if you want, but the numbers don’t lie, and neither do arrest records.

More than 400 arrests later, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed the Minneapolis operation was, at least by law enforcement standards, a success. Now, attention is turning to Ohio — which, for those keeping track, is not a sanctuary state, though it is home to the second-largest Somali population in the U.S. — and Kansas, which has already banned sanctuary cities outright. That means fewer soft landings, fewer activist-friendly judges, and less bureaucratic foot-dragging to protect those who have already been ordered to leave the country.

Of course, DHS didn’t confirm the details, as is standard procedure — but they didn’t deny it either. Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin kept it clinical: “What makes someone a target of ICE is not their race or ethnicity, but the fact that they are in the country illegally.” Seems reasonable. But in 2025, stating the obvious now counts as controversial.

What’s really wild is how little outrage there is over the alleged theft of taxpayer funds, compared to the completely predictable freakout over ICE doing its job. Remember, this wasn’t a few bad apples. We’re talking about hundreds of arrests and an operation so large it reportedly sent money not just overseas, but allegedly into the hands of violent extremists. If that doesn’t get your blood pressure up, maybe check your pulse.

Should ICE conduct operations targeting illegal immigrants in Kansas and Ohio amid fraud allegations?

But no — what got the media foaming at the mouth wasn’t the scale of the fraud or the possibility of national security threats. It was Trump’s comments. Again. Because for the press, tone is always more offensive than corruption, and strong borders are somehow more dangerous than billions vanishing into black holes overseas.

Meanwhile, Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance are doubling down on law and order, which might explain why the administration’s approval among working-class Americans — you know, the ones footing the bill for all this — keeps holding steady despite the media’s constant hysteria.

The truth is, there’s a reason this story is quietly gaining traction. People are tired of the selective outrage, the sanctuary posturing, and the bureaucratic shrug every time someone allegedly steals enough public money to fund a small country. Click away if you’re curious what happens next — because if this crackdown keeps expanding, a whole lot of people might finally have to start answering some uncomfortable questions.
