Actor John Stamos revealed what former “Full House” co-stars Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen told the cast at late co-star Bob Saget’s funeral.
On Tuesday, Stamos, 60, appeared on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” and opened up about his reunion with the Olsen twins, 37, after they chose not to participate in the show’s Netflix spin-off “Fuller House.”
“They came to Bob’s funeral, and it was so beautiful,” he said.
Although they didn’t give a speech during the service, Stamos revealed the Olsen sisters gathered their former co-stars together and expressed their gratitude for their time on the show as child stars.
He shared:
“They got us all together and said, ‘We love you. We loved our childhood. We’re grateful for you guys. We thank you for making those eight years so beautiful for us. We have such fond memories.’”
“And everyone just needed to hear that and I think it was Bob doing it,” Stamos said of the special moment.
Saget was found dead in his hotel room in Orlando, Florida, on Jan. 9, 2022. He was 65.
According to Fox News, his autopsy report showed the comedian had suffered multiple fractures which led the Orange County Medical Examiner’s office to believe he most likely hit the “posterior aspect of his head” during a fall.
On Jan. 14, 2022, Saget was laid to rest in Los Angeles surrounded by his friends and family.
On Jan. 21, 2022, Stamos published his eulogy from Saget’s memorial in the Los Angeles Times.
“I don’t need Bob in some other realm. He’s in the lessons I teach my son and the hilarious dirty stories that my wife and I will laugh at for the rest of our lives,” he said.
Stamos continued, “Hell, I can Google him to life and hear him any time, night or day. And now I can pause or fast forward him, which would have been incredible a few times while he was alive.”
He also admitted his struggle to let Saget go.
“But now I’m starting to realize I don’t have to. I don’t have to say goodbye because he’s never leaving my heart. And I will continue to talk to him every day and let him know what he means to me,” he shared.
Stamos concluded, “Bob, I will never, ever have another friend like you. You will always be my best friend. You are my new guardian angel — a guardian angel with the dirtiest mouth and a heart as big and benevolent as forever.”
