Lawmakers Get In Shouting Match Outside House Chamber Over Gun Control Issue: 'Gutless'

Share

Reps. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) did not hold back during an argument over gun control outside of the House chamber.

“They’re freaking cowards! They’re gutless!” Bowman shouted.

Massie responded, “What are you talking about?”

Bowman fired back, “I’m talking about gun violence.”

Massie noted to Bowman, “There has never been a school shooting in a school that allows teachers to carry.”

Bowman replied, “Carry guns? More guns lead to more death. Look at the data. You’re not looking at any data.”

When encouraged to calm down, Bowman yelled, “Calm down? Children are dying!”

While Bowman continued to shout, Massie told a camera, “I got a solution.”

Several Twitter users weighed in on the argument.

Radio host Joel Pollak wrote, “Clear win by [Rep Thomas Massie], because [Rep Bowman] just shouts and makes irrelevant points. Notably, Bowman is the pro-TikTok congressman, but as you see here, it’s not because he favors freedom of speech.”

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) tweeted, “Well done, [Rep Thomas Massie].”

He continued, “Gun-free zones make our schools less safe. The Safe Students Act is a commonsense bill that would protect innocent life. Unfortunately, the Left is only interested in ‘solutions’ that disarm our nation and dismantle our [2A] rights.”

Another tweet suggested there is “no IQ test to be a Democrat member of Congress.”

Podcaster Tim Pool added, “Hysterical Bowman will not listen to reason, he just keeps yelling kids are dying. These people don’t pass laws with logic, its just raw emotion that ends up making the problem worse.”

The exchange comes after a shooting that took place at a school in Nashville, Tennessee, killing three 9-year-olds and three adults.

President Joe Biden continues to call for an assault weapons ban.

“Why do I keep saying this if it’s not happening?” he asked Tuesday. “Because I want you to know who isn’t doing it, who isn’t helping to put pressure on them.”
