A reporter is no longer with NBC News after the network discovered 11 of her articles “did not meet our standards for original material.”

The network issued a note to readers on Tuesday announcing the discovery.

“The articles contained passages from other news organizations that were used without attribution,” NBC News explained.

The note continues, “In all cases, the passages were not central to the stories, but instead contained supplemental or background material that did not represent original reporting.”

NBC News removed the passages that were plagiarized.

“Maintaining the trust of our readers and viewers is essential to NBC News, and our work must always meet the highest standards of our profession,” the network said.

A source within NBC News told The New York Post the reporter was Teaganne Finn. The New York Times also reported that Finn is no longer with the company.

According to the outlet, Finn joined NBC News in June of 2021 to cover politics after working at Bloomberg.

The Post noted it is unclear whether Finn was fired or decided to resign.

Leaked audio of the meeting during which NBC News staffers learned of the news was exclusively obtained by the Post.

Catherine Kim, NBC’s senior vice president of global digital news, pointed out the material that was plagiarized was “generally background material, supplemental, not core to the story.”

Still, she explained, “As we all know on this call, it is a bright line that we can’t cross. Our trust with each other – and we do trust each other – with the public, the reputation of NBC News, the reputation of the journalism we produce, is core to what we do.”

Included among the flagged articles are stories titled, “Democratic lawmakers not giving up on child tax credit, betting on Manchin’s support” and “Farmers flourish under Biden, see recovery from Trump-era trade wars.”
