Former President Barack Obama reportedly blasted former President Donald Trump during events leading up to the 2016 election and throughout his presidency.
The Guardian obtained an excerpt from a new book written by Edward-Isaac Dovere, a staff writer at the Atlantic, detailing Obama’s remarks about Trump.
In his book titled, “Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaigns to Defeat Donald Trump,” Dovere reports Obama telling “big donors looking to squeeze a reaction out of him in exchange for the big checks they were writing to his foundation” that Trump is a “madman.”
Obama also reportedly said, “I didn’t think we’d have a racist, sexist pig,” later calling Trump a “f***ng lunatic.”
One of Obama’s strongest comments came after reports surfaced that Trump was speaking to foreign leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin “amid the investigation of Russian election interference and links between Trump and Moscow – without any aides on the call,” as The Guardian reports.
“That corrupt motherf****er,” Obama said.
While campaigning for President Joe Biden in October of 2020, Obama also took a shot at Trump’s ego.
“Trump cares about feeding his ego. Joe cares about keeping you and your family safe,” Obama said in Flint, Michigan.
He accused Trump of being “jealous of COVID’s media coverage” and obsessed with “crowd size.”
“He’s still worried about his inauguration crowd being smaller than mine. It really bugs him. He’s still talking about that. Does he have nothing better to worry about?” Obama said. “Did no one come to his birthday party as a kid? Was he traumatized?”
Trump suggested in October of 2020 Obama was unknowingly campaigning for him, as IJR previously reported.
“Obama is campaigning for us. Every time he speaks, people come over to our side. He didn’t even want to endorse Sleepy Joe. Did so long after primaries were over!” Trump tweeted.
