White House Jen Psaki is declining to share whether President Joe Biden believes there should be any restrictions on abortion.

During a press briefing on Monday, a reporter asked, “Does the president have a clear belief in what he thinks the restrictions should be? Or if he thinks there should be any restrictions on abortion?”

Psaki did not provide any specifics as she said, “The president’s view is that women should be able to make choices about their own healthcare.”

“I’m not going to detail it further beyond what he’s said in the past,” she added.

A separate reporter asked, “How at risk does the administration believe the U.S. is to completely outlawing abortion?”

“I think we’re at serious risk,” Psaki responded.

Do you think there should be any restrictions?

She continued, “Mitch McConnell and other Republicans in Congress are talking about a national ban on a woman’s right to choose.”

“Just yesterday the governor of Mississippi wouldn’t say whether they would directly go after the right to use contraception,” she added.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told USA Today that it is “possible” the country could see stricter abortion bans if Roe v. Wade is overturned.

“If the leaked opinion became the final opinion, legislative bodies — not only at the state level but at the federal level — certainly could legislate in that area,” he said.

The minority leader added, “And if this were the final decision, that was the point that it should be resolved one way or another in the legislative process. So yeah, it’s possible.”

However, McConnell said he would not change the Senate filibuster to pass a national abortion ban.

The issue comes after Politico published a story based on a draft opinion that appeared to show the Supreme Court is poised to overturn the landmark abortion decision Roe v. Wade.

According to a poll from The Washington Post/ABC News, that was conducted before the leak, a majority of Americans believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases.
