Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is making it a point to inform Dr. Anthony Fauci of the latest study released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow earlier this week, “Our data from the CDC today suggest that vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don’t get sick.”

She added, “And that it’s not just in the clinical trials, but it’s also in real-world data.”

Paul took to Twitter to direct Fauci’s attention to the study after the leading health expert suggested people should still wear masks even after they are vaccinated.

“Paging Dr Fauci: please end the mask theater now that cdc admits evidence that the vaccinated do not carry the virus,” Paul tweeted on Wednesday.

During a Senate hearing on March 18, Paul pressed Fauci on his call for Americans to continue to wear masks even after they get the vaccine, as IJR reported.

“You’re telling everybody to wear a mask, whether they’ve had an infection or vaccine. What I’m saying is they have immunity, and everybody agrees they have immunity,” Paul said.

He continued, “What studies do you have that people who’ve had the vaccine or have had the infection are spreading the infection? If we’re not spreading the infection isn’t it just theater?”

Fauci replied, “No, it’s not…”

Paul argued, “You want people to get the vaccine, give them a reward instead of telling them the nanny-state’s going to be there for three more years and you gotta wear a mask forever.”

Fauci fired back, “Let me just state for the record that masks are not theater. Masks are protective.”

During a CNN interview, Fauci spoke out about the fiery conversation, as IJR reported.

 “He completely does not take into account the variants. He quotes literature which is selective in how he quotes it,” Fauci said.

When discussing how Americans are tired of the restrictions, Fauci said, “We’re not saying doing this indefinitely. We’re not saying this is the way it’s going to have to be all the time. We’re saying that if you look at the data and look at the science, there is a chance that you can get in trouble if you pull back too prematurely.”
