Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis if he planned to “run for president again” during a Tuesday interview on “Hang Out with Sean Hannity.”

DeSantis ran for president in 2024 but dropped out shortly after the Iowa caucuses and endorsed President Donald Trump. He told Hannity on his show that he had not reached a decision about running again and chalked up his failed 2024 bid to “timing.” (RELATED: We Calculated Exactly How Often Nikki Haley Said ‘DeSantisLies.com’ On Debate Night)

“We’ll see. I mean, I think that in ’24 in Iowa, the people that voted for Trump, if he wasn’t running, I would have gotten like 90% of those people,” DeSantis said. “They were conservative voters. They didn’t want the non-conservative. They wanted me. But the timing didn’t work out obviously for that. So, you just got to see what happens.”

Should Ron DeSantis consider running for president again in 2028?

“But I will say this: regardless of running or anything, we will be able to show that conservatism works. When you apply it aggressively, unapologetically, when you demonstrate leadership, when you cover all the issues, don’t leave any stone unturned, no meat on the bone, you produce historic results,” he added. “We had 300,000 more Democrats in this state when I ran in ’18 in that tough election than Republicans. Today, we have 1.4 million more registered Republicans. We’ve never seen a shift like that in modern American history.”

DeSantis finished second in the Iowa caucuses, obtaining 21.2% of the vote and beating former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who came in third with 19.1%. Both candidates lost to Trump, who won in a massive landslide.

While Trump and DeSantis were bitter rivals during the 2024 Republican presidential primary, they have since reconciled.

Although Trump has repeatedly indicated his support for a 2028 presidential ticket consisting of Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, he has been noncommittal. DeSantis ranks fourth behind Vance, Rubio and Donald Trump Jr. in 2028 Republican presidential primary polling, according to the RealClearPolling average.

DeSantis will depart the governor’s mansion at the end of his second term in 2027. Republican Lt. Gov. Jay Collins is vying for the gubernatorial position, with Rep. Byron Donalds also in the race.
