Speculation that Usha Vance is divorcing Vice President JD Vance has been denied by her spokesperson, following a public appearance that sparked rumors.
According to Page Six, the split rumors began circulating after Usha, 39, appeared without her wedding ring during a visit to Camp Lejeune, a military training facility in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on Nov. 19.
She attended the event alongside First Lady Melania Trump, dressed in a burgundy turtleneck dress and matching heels, but notably ringless.
“[Usha is] a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes,” the spokesperson told People, clarifying that the absence of her wedding ring was unintentional. Usha and JD, 41, share three children: sons Ewan, 8, and Vivek, 5, and daughter Mirabel, 3.
The couple married in 2014 after meeting at Yale Law School.
Rumors were further fueled by JD Vance’s hug with Erika Kirk, the widow of late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, at a Turning Point USA event last month.
The embrace went viral on social media, prompting chatter about the state of the Vances’ marriage.
Erika, 37, who praised Usha for her support during Charlie’s memorial service, addressed the crowd: “No one will ever replace my husband. But I do see some similarities of my husband in JD — in Vice President JD Vance. I do.”
She also recalled a private conversation with Usha at the memorial:
“She told me, you will get through these 15 minutes and the next 15 minutes after that. Usha, I don’t think you realized it then, but those words were exactly what I needed to hear.”
JD Vance previously sparked debate in October when he expressed his hope that Usha, who was raised in a Hindu family, would eventually convert to his Catholic faith.
Despite social media speculation and public scrutiny, Usha’s spokesperson emphasized that there is no truth to the divorce rumors, attributing the chatter to ordinary oversights and heightened attention surrounding the couple’s public appearances.
