Millie Bobby Brown is officially entering a brand-new role — motherhood.
The 21-year-old “Stranger Things” and “Enola Holmes” star revealed on Thursday that she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, have adopted a daughter, according to NBC News.
The announcement came via Instagram, where Brown shared that the adoption took place “this summer.”
The post, which did not include the child’s name or photos, read: “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.”
Brown and Bongiovi — the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi — tied the knot last year after going “Instagram official” in 2021. Their relationship made headlines not just for their age and celebrity backgrounds, but also for their underwater engagement story, which Brown first shared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“I think it was underwhelming but we freaked out,” Brown joked, recounting how Bongiovi proposed while they were diving. Because she couldn’t speak underwater, she gave him an OK sign instead of a verbal answer.
The couple’s commitment to building a family has been no secret. In an earlier interview on the “SmartLess” podcast, Brown said she and Bongiovi hoped for a large family, adding that her own parents were 19 and 21 when they had their first child.
“Of course I want to focus on really establishing myself, as an actor and as a producer,” she said at the time. “But I also find it’s so important to start a family, for me personally, it’s a huge thing.”
She also spoke candidly about adoption and motherhood, revealing that her dreams of becoming a mom have always been central to her life’s vision.
“For me, like, I don’t see having your own child as really any different in adopting,” Brown explained. “I feel like … my home is full of love for anyone or anything.”
Now, that love has officially extended to a child of their own — marking the beginning of what Brown called a “beautiful next chapter.”
With privacy at the forefront and their hearts wide open, the young couple is stepping into parenthood on their own terms — and fans are celebrating with them.
