A suspicious package containing white powder delivered to Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) home is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Capitol Hill police.
According to a senior adviser to the senator, Sergio Gor, a large envelope was sent to Paul’s home and is being examined for harmful substances, as Politico reports.
The person who sent the package is unknown.
Paul released a statement responding to the matter, “I take these threats immensely seriously. As a repeated target of violence, it is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to encourage violence against me and my family.”
He added, “Just this weekend Richard Marx called for violence against me and now we receive this powder filled letter.”

Richard Marx, a singer and songwriter, tweeted on Sunday, “I’ll say it again: If I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume.”

Paul’s neighbor, Rene Boucher, was charged with assaulting a member of Congress after he attacked the senator in 2017 leaving him with five rib fractures.
A photo of Paul in bandages and with a gun to his head was displayed on the outside of the envelope with the message, “I’ll finish what your neighbor started you motherf*****,” as Fox News reports.
Paul and his wife were previously met with a “mob” after leaving the White House following former President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in August 2020, as IJR previously reported.
“We got to the policeman and the policeman I don’t think recognized me, and as they came closer, they were shouting my name, the crowd doubled to 60, and then it doubled again to 120,” Paul explained during an appearance on Fox News.
He added, “I promise you had we not had the D.C. police to support us, we are thankful that we have police and we’ve got to wake up. We can’t have the whole country, we can’t have Joe Biden rule the country and have no police.”
