Three men have been indicted on murder charges in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, a prosecutor announced on Wednesday.

According to prosecutor Joyette Holmes, Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael, and William “Roddie” Bryan Jr. have been indicted by a Glynn County grand jury on charges including malice and felony murder.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrests of Travis McMichael and Greg McMichael on May 8, as IJR previously reported.

They were both charged with murder and aggravated assault more than two months after Arbery was murdered.

“On February 23, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery was in the Satilla Shores neighborhood in Brunswick, GA when both Gregory and Travis McMichael confronted Arbery with two firearms. During the encounter, Travis McMichael shot and killed Arbery,” officials said in a press release issued May 7.

According to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent, Bryan joined the McMichaels as they were driving by.

Bryan was later arrested on May 22. The arrest warrant said he tried to “confine and detain” Arbery without legal authority by ‘utilizing his vehicle on multiple occasions’ before Arbery was shot.”

The McMichaels and Bryan are also charged with “two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.”

The murder of Arbery garnered attention and outrage from lawmakers.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Former Vice President Joe Biden, and President Donald Trump were among those who quickly offered their condolences hours after the news of the arrests of the McMichaels broke.
