Trump Blasted for His Answer to Whether a Man Can Become a Woman

Share

Former President Donald Trump is facing criticism for a response he gave about gender issues.

During an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Trump was asked, “Can a man become a woman?”

After a short pause, he responded, “Um…”

He chuckled then added, “In my opinion, you have a man, you have a woman. I think part of it is birth. Can that man give birth? No, no.”

Critics seized on Trump’s pause and prolonged “um” to criticize his response.

Jaimee Michell, co-founder of the Gays Against Groomers group, wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “The frontrunner for the Republican Party can’t answer if a man can become a woman or not. Scared or upsetting Brucey?? This is pathetic. PATHETIC. I’ve never seen someone get so demolished in an interview before.”

Another user wrote, “Ok, wow…this is truly unbelievable. ‘Can a man become a woman?’ ‘Umm…’?? There should be zero hesitation here. An immediate, emphatic [and] resounding ‘𝑵𝑶!’ is literally the only correct response to this question. This is utterly indefensible & makes me question Trump 2024.”

“Holy crap. He can’t even answer the question: can a man become a woman?! ‘Ummmmm,’” wrote conservative writer Justin Hart.

Another user wrote, “DeSantis’s primary challenger isn’t sure if a man can become a woman.”

Some of his supporters focused on the latter part of the answer. Conservative commentator Jack Posobiec wrote, “Trump: (Laughing) ‘In my opinion, you have a man, you have a woman.'”
