President Donald Trump has a new late-night show host in his sights — “The Late Show” host Seth Meyers.
Trump went after Meyers after the host likened the president to the cartoon character Wile E. Cayote, per The Hill.
Trump’s attack on Meyers came after Meyers joked about Trump commenting on the way aircraft carriers are built.
On Friday’s show, Meyers showed a clip of Trump asking about “catapults. He asked “which is better the electric or the steam?”
“They’re spending billions of dollars to build stupid electric,” Trump said. “I’m going to sign an executive order when we build aircraft carriers its steam for the catapults … they spent $993 million on the catapults trying to get them to work.”
Meyers jumped on the opportunity, stating “guy spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Cayote.”
“Next, he’s gonna start complaining about how our troops don’t ties themselves to rockets anymore,” Meyers said.
Trump went on Truth Social Saturday to respond.
“Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to “perform” live in the history of television. In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise,” Trump wrote. “I watched his show the other night for the first time in years. In it he talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults. On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic.”
“Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!” the president continued.
