A member of the Swedish Parliament announced he is nominating President Donald Trump for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize, marking the second nomination for Trump.
Magnus Jacobsson revealed he is also nominating the governments of Kosovo and Serbia.
“I have nominated the US Gov. and the governments of Kosovo and Serbia for the Nobel Peace Prize for their joint work for peace and economic development, through the cooperation agreement signed in the White House,” Jacobsson said in a tweet.
He added, “Trade and communications are important building blocks for peace.”

Jacobsson’s nomination comes just days after Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament and chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, nominated Trump, as IJR previously reported.
“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” he said.
Tybring-Gjedde also recognized Trump’s “key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and … creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea.”
Mathilde Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament and daughter of Christian Tybring-Gjedde, criticized the nomination.
She said in an email to CBS News, “I did not nominate Donald Trump as I do not believe he is qualified to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.”
She went on, “The prize is given to those who have ‘done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.’ Donald Trump does not come to mind when I read this description.”
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany acknowledged the nomination as “a hard-earned and well-deserved honor” for Trump.
Trump told Fox News, “It’s a great honor to be nominated, and I know it has tremendous significance,” as IJR previously reported.
He added, “It shows that we’re trying to make peace, not war all the time.”
The agreement between Israel and the UAE is scheduled to be signed on Sept. 15.
Trump announced on Friday Bahrain joined the UAE in striking a deal with Israel.
“Opening direct dialogue and ties between these two dynamic societies and advanced economies will continue the positive transformation of the Middle East and increase stability, security, and prosperity in the region,” the United States, Bahrain and Israel said in a joint statement.
