Former President Donald Trump is not holding back criticism of New York’s attorney general as he is facing a lawsuit that could cripple his real estate empire.

After New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the lawsuit, Trump took to Truth Social to allege it was “another witch hunt” by a “racist attorney general.”

He wrote that James “failed in her run for Governor” and “now is doing poorly against Law [and] Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry,”

Trump went on, “I never thought this case would be brought – until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a ‘get Trump’ platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!”

In a separate post, the former president labeled James a “total crime fighting disaster in New York” who spends “all of her time fighting for very powerful and well represented banks and insurance companies, who were fully paid, made a lot of money, and never had a complaint about me, instead of fighting murder and violent crime, which is killing New York State.”

“She is a failed A.G. whose lack of talent in the fight against crime is causing record numbers of people and companies to flee New York. Bye, bye!” he added.

On Wednesday, James filed a lawsuit against the former president and three of his adult children.

As Politico reports, “The attorney general’s civil suit alleges more than a decade of deception, including billions of dollars in falsified net worth, as part of an effort to minimize his companies’ tax bills while winning favorable terms from banks and insurance companies.”

“It seeks about $250 million in allegedly illegal profits netted from the scheme, as well as a five-year ban on the former president, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump participating in any real estate transactions — a restriction that would spell the end of the Trump real estate empire,” it added.

On top of banning members of the Trump family from participating in real estate transactions, the suit also aims to permanently ban them from holding a position as a director or an officer of a New York corporation or a business licensed in the state.

Politico explains the lawsuit “relies on a special statute for repeat instances of alleged violations of the law, stemming from real estate transactions.”

“She is also filing a criminal referral to federal prosecutors in Manhattan and a separate tax fraud referral to the IRS for the same underlying allegations,” it added.

During a press conference on Wednesday, James said, “I’m announcing that today we’re filing a lawsuit against Donald Trump for violating the law as part of his efforts to generate profits for himself, his family, his company.”

“The complaint demonstrates that Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and to cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us, she continued.

The attorney general described the alleged “pattern of fraud” as “astounding.”

In a tweet, James wrote, “Today, I filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump for engaging in years of financial fraud to enrich himself, his family, and the Trump Organization.”

There aren't two sets of laws for people in this nation: former presidents must be held to the same standards as everyday Americans.
