Former President Donald Trump is suggesting a picture of him and an advice columnist who accused him of rape, E. Jean Carroll, is fake.
During a press conference on Friday, Trump lashed out at Carroll, who accused him of raping her in the 1990s and defaming her decades later. In 2023, a jury found the former president was liable for sexual abuse and defamation and ordered him to pay $83.3 million in damages.
Trump is now appealing that determination and has previously denied knowing her.
During a press conference on Friday, he addressed a picture of himself with Carroll from the 1980s, saying, “This case is a scam. And all I can say is that I never met the woman, other than this picture — which could have been A.I.-generated, I don’t know, it showed up out of nowhere.”
“Nice picture with her, her husband, and lots of other people… I never met her, never touched her, never had anything to do with her,” he added.

This is not the first time Trump suggested a picture he did not like was generated by artificial intelligence.
Last month, he falsely suggested a picture of a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris was generated by AI.
