Podcast host Joe Rogan criticized corporate media Wednesday for its negative reporting on Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), pointing to outlets totally ignoring instances of waste uncovered at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Since Musk announced plans to shutter USAID on Feb. 3, CNN and MSNBC used the phrase “constitutional crisis” over 200 times, the Daily Caller News Foundation learned in a keyword search of footage archived by Grabien News. Rogan, on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” accused media outlets of choosing to attack President Donald Trump and Musk’s USAID plan and fixating on DOGE staffers accessing Americans’ data.

“What’s unbelievably baffling to me is the complete absence of the coverage of all of these things that should be very concerning in mainstream media,” Rogan said “Complete absence. All the discussion, the negative anti-Trump discussion about USAID shutting down, is all the good that it does.”
“And then also, you’re going to get access to people’s private data — that’s all you’re hearing,” he continued. “You’re hearing the gaslighting spin is those two things.”
USAID sent 65.5 million condoms, 9.8 million injectable birth control products and 334,000 IUDs to other countries in fiscal year 2022 to facilitate family planning, particularly in the third world. It also distributed a $2 million grant to Guatemala to fund “gender-affirming care” and LGBTQ activism.
Rogan on Thursday defended Musk’s plan to dismantle USAID due to its spending on “crazy shit.” He also criticized the “left-wing media” for “ignoring it.”
“It’s crazy and it’s so interesting, I was listening to a left-wing podcast today — I like to mix it up, you know, I listen to all kinds of different stuff and it was like I was listening to a different world — they weren’t even talking about all this corruption and all this obvious buying of influence,” he said. “Instead, they were talking about aid overseas and how people are gonna starve.”
“It’s very strange that the media’s ignoring it, especially the left-wing media,” Rogan continued. “It’s just too much of a win for the right, and so they’re just ignoring it and then they’re just highlighting the good things that USAID did, which I’m sure they probably did. Probably had to do some good things to at least justify its existence.”
