Reinvigorated Sakic to remain Avalanche GM indefinitely, team sources say

Colorado Avalanche legend Joe Sakic will continue as the team’s full-time general manager, with no GM search planned as he resumes day-to-day duties and aims to build toward another title, following his reinvigorated commitment after last season’s playoff setback. He already secured a historic eight-year, $163.2 million contract for star defenseman Cale Makar and will guide the front office for the 2026-27 season and beyond, with the organization expressing strong confidence in his leadership.
