Libia, oficialmente el Estado de Libia, es un país en la región del Magreb de África del Norte. Limita con el mar Mediterráneo al norte, Egipto al este, Sudán al sureste, Chad al sur, Níger al suroeste, Argelia al oeste y Túnez al noroeste. Con un área de casi 1.8 million km2 (700,000 sq mi), Libia es el cuarto país más grande de África y del mundo árabe, y el decimosexto más grande del mundo.
